Adventures in the Dark

In chapter 7, Myron decides to go to the basement of Wayside School in order to find his freedom... he is tired of doing all the things he is supposed to do and even begins to wonder if he is living a life as if he is in a "bird cage"!  While in the dark basement, he has a very unusual encounter with three men.

Tell your ideas about what you think Myron should do?

Why is it  a good idea to try to do all the things we are supposed to do?
  • It is a good idea to do all the things we are supposed to do so we will be safe. Sussette
  • We could get in trouble if we don't do all the things we are suppose to, we will get in trouble; like if we were watching TV before doing our homework it would rot our brain, and doing homework makes us smarter.  -Mrs. Kayga's 1st grade class
  • To learn so that one day we will have a good job and our freedom.
Why is a good idea to do things your own way, making up your own mind about what to do and how to do it?

How can we get a good balance between both of these choices?

  • We can get a good balance between both of these choices by doing things that you are told to do, like chores, then you get to do whatever you want for your free time.
  • Some things you have to do it your way and some things you have to do the right things.
